509th firefighters bring the heat

WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. - Firefighters with the 509th Civil Engineer Squadron drive into position to fight a simulated aircraft fire during an aircraft live-burn exercise, Sept. 2. Several enlisted and civilian firefighters participated in the simulated aircraft fire to keep their qualifications and skills up-to-date. The exercise is conducted once a year, and firefighters are put into several different scenarios where they are forced to react quickly and accurately. Chesapeake, VA FD Engine Fighting Cancer

The debut event for the truck was the Chesapeake Relay for Life event on May 6, 2011. The truck will be used at other cancer awareness events and to support victims and family members of those affected by cancer. This fire engine is a reserve unit and is still fully functional.
