509th firefighters bring the heat

WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. - Firefighters with the 509th Civil Engineer Squadron drive into position to fight a simulated aircraft fire during an aircraft live-burn exercise, Sept. 2. Several enlisted and civilian firefighters participated in the simulated aircraft fire to keep their qualifications and skills up-to-date. The exercise is conducted once a year, and firefighters are put into several different scenarios where they are forced to react quickly and accurately.
