National Fire Dog Monument Stops In Trenton, NJ

Via Flickr: The National Fire Dog Monument was created to recognize the incredible contributions that accelerant detection canines (arson dogs) make in keeping communities safe. These dogs do not ask for anything in return after risking their lives to reduce the negative impact of arson in their communities. The life size bronze monument depicts a firefighter looking down at his canine partner who in turn is looking up at his partner ready to work. This incredible monument, From Ashes to Answers, was sculpted by 22 year old artist and Colorado firefighter, Austin Weishel. The bronzing process is being completed by BRONZE SERVICES FINE ART FOUNDRY in Loveland, CO. The monument traveled from Denver, CO to Washington D.C. for placement at D.C. It is operated at local authority level in conjunction with the Department of Defence. The organisation was established in 1950 in response to the threat of nuclear disaster posed by the atomic bomb following World War II or "The Emergency" as WWII was known in Ireland. Its purpose was to provide aid, assistance and disaster relief to citizens in time of emergency. Today, the organisation runs on the same principal with a focus on effectively aiding the full-time emergency services as and when required. The organisation uses many different types of vehicles. Some are purpose-built and some have been adapted into new roles such as mobile incident command units. Many of the vehicles have all-terrain capabilities such as Land Rover Defender field ambulances, Bedford and Iveco four-wheel drive lorries and Bandvag

Via Flickr: A helicopter drops water on the fire as firefighters continued to battle the blaze that burned into the evening hours in Waldo Canyon on the U.S. Air Force Academy on June 27, 2012. The fires, which have burned more than 15,000 acres, began spreading to the southwestern corner of the Academy in the early morning, causing base officials to evacuate residents. Officials estimated that the fire had spread to about 10 acres of land belonging to the Academy. Currently, more than 90 firefighters from the Academy, along with assets from Air Force Space Command; F.E.
